On Friday, July 13th at 8pm the gravity sessions will be presented at the Apohadion Theater. Co-founded by trumpeter/composer Mark Tipton and poet Gil Helmick, this innovative monthly series provides a consistent venue for free expression through refreshing collaborations within a spectrum of artistic disciplines, viewpoints, ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Since its inception in November 2017, the gravity sessions has presented a host of diverse regional and national artists, and has drawn enthusiastic, capacity audiences.
Featured artists for July 13th include: David Kontak – Sonic Explorer, Poet Nicholas Coulombe, Les Sorciers Perdus (Mark Tipton – trumpet, Ryan Blotnick – guitar, Tyler Heydolph – bass & Beau Lisy – drums), poet Gil Helmick, and visual artist Rush Brown.
The performance will include four sets: 8PM – Les Sorciers Perdus (LSP) with poet Gil Helmick; 8:30PM – poet Nicholas Coulombe with LSP; (break); 9:15PM David Kontak; 9:45PM collaborative pieces, including video art – TBA. Throughout the evening visual artist Rush Brown will be capturing the performances live on his easel.
Admission is by a suggested donation of $10/person, and wine and beer are available for purchase at the venue.
The Apohadion Theater is located at 107 Hanover St Portland ME
